40 years ago, my classmate Linda and I loved the slammin' "The Word Is Out," by Jermaine Stewart. He was a dancer for Shalamar, and then got his own recording contract.
Well, I tried contacts twice, never could poke my eyes, and lost them while swimming. I went back to eyeglasses, and haven't tried contacts, even though the latter are supposed to be much better.
Not surprisingly, Linda became an optometrist, and still goes by her birth/maiden name.
Linda's daughter now goes to Harvard, whose mascot is the color, Crimson. But they're supposed to have a Pilgrim. Yet, they have this turkey.
Anyway, in a sign of us being old, Linda's daughter says that, in a music class, they learned about Stewart, who died from AIDS, "way back in 1997." But don't let that stop you from enjoying "The Word Is Out."
