The peach-colored building blocks the view of my parents' place. 35 years ago, I missed my girlfriend, KJ. Thus, I tried to come home from UCSC as often as I could. Every second with KJ was precious. Of that Fall 1989 quarter, KJ did find Whitesnake's "Judgment Day" to be interesting.
But you know what? In many ways, I actually connected with and liked "Judgment Day" more, while at Santa Cruz, especially when (a) coming to open expanses, and (b) the sun went down. There was something about nighttime, which made "Judgment Day" lock in.
I would come back home to San Francisco. At Audio Excellence, then located across the street from the Transamerica Pyramid, I got to audition the Thiel CS1.2. Of speakers in that price range, the CS1.2 did a better-than-average job of "lighting up" the recorded space, with each drum stroke from "Judgment Day."
