So what did we do immediately after Christmas 1998? Some of us drove down to SoCal, to meet up with friends there. We did take 101, but did not stop off in Malibu.

Sigh, the photo above (I think that was Hermosa Beach) was the sharpest, of a bunch I had taken. But I messed up, and didn't take it straight/parallel to the ground. And of course, when we were there, we heard Hole's "Malibu."

In the mid-80s, Hole's Courtney Love was living in Malibu with a boyfriend. So she wrote all of the lyrics. Her guitarist and the Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan added some of the music.

Parts of the video were actually filmed in Malibu.
