I was over at my neighbor's house, checking out the apple blossoms. In a couple months, this tree will produce a lot of fruits.
So we went back inside, and some internet radio station specializing in "1970s" music actually played Lori Lieberman's "Killing Me Softly With His Song," which is the original. I don't think I've heard this version, since my senior year in college (1993), when a Central CA coast Oldies radio staton played it.
When Lieberman was still 19, she signed with Norman Gimbel and Charles Fox. Supposedly, Lieberman went to a Don MacLean concert, which inspired some lyrics, which Gimbel and Fox then incorporated into what became "Killing Me Softly With His Song."
Lieberman's version never charted, but of course, it has become covered many times over.
