HELP! How do you organize your music collection?

Well, since I have, mostly, a physical music collection, I'm thinking that I need some kind of dividers (do they sell these) and, perhaps, I can make my own, (but how?) or buy something (but what?)

Any suggestions? I have both an LP collection and a CD collection and simple shelfs, about 900 CD's and 300 LP's.

Also, I'm trying to figure out how to categorize music, such as:

Vocal
Pop Vocal
Rock & Roll
Latin
Irish
Musicals
Classical Composer
Classical Performer
Jazz Modern
Jazz Vocal
Jazz Big Band
Jazz Traditional

??
