"It's Ferris Bueller!!!"
35 years ago, at the beginning of 1990, some of my dormmies went into Santa Cruz. We saw the move, Glory, starring Matthew Broderick, better known as Ferris Bueller.
Glory kicked off with the haunting "A Call To Arms," with vocals supplied by the Boys Choir of Harlem.
This was during a long drought. We did have clouds, but not much rain. Still, when we got back to campus, the ground was moist enough, for the banana slugs to come out. But the movie had made us silent, overcome by the solemn sadness of Union troops dying in battle, and not being able to take Fort Wagner.
Whenever I hear "A Call To Arms" reproduced accurately, (a) that sadness returns, but (b) it feels like early 1990 all over again, which was before I had gotten into high-end audio.
