It seems as though Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" has always been around. But it actually came out at the end of 1979, which is relatively recent. I myself was already in 3rd grade then.

After the dissolution of Wings, "Wonderful Christmastime" was McCartney's first solo release. The distinctive synth grabs all of the attention, but McCartney actually played all of the instruments, on "Wonderful Christmastime."

When McCartney II came out in 1980, it did not include "Wonderful Christmastime." Oh well, each holiday season, "Wonderful Christmastime" is ubiquitous, the synth sounding as fresh as it did, 45 years ago.
