35 years ago, I was back home in San Francisco. I met some friends at Pine Lake Park (above), which was not that far from our old high school.
It was only a matter of time. We heard a song called "New Jack Swing." It was by New York's Wrecks-N-Effect. It's got that crisp production, which trips up 90% of high-end audio products.
The musical genre New Jack Swing would lead to the early-90s' rap and hip hop golden era. As for Wrecks-N-Effect, 3 years later they would get the timing a little off, by coming out with "Rump Shaker," after the Fall 1992 semester had started. Had that come out in the Spring or Summer it would have been a bigger hit.
