Ah, guava pancakes. 25 years ago, my family ate, among other things, guava pancakes. My parents were looking to upgrade from their dinky Aiea studio apartment. They wanted something closer to town, so they checked out places from Kaimuki to Salt Lake.
When coming back from Liliha, we got off at Keeaumoku, and went to the Tower Records, which used to be on Kapiolani.
At Ala Moana Beach, we listened to the more mellow, acoustic, and mature "Honolulu City Lights," by a solo Keola Beamer.
Something clicked within my parents, and they then honed in on the area off Keeaumoku, between Kapiolani and King.
I've recommended to other audiophies, to go up Tantalus heights. I've also shared the solo Keola Beamer version of "Honolulu City Lights." As the sun sets, the city lights come on.... With the brutal heatwaves on the Mainland, who would have known, that you go to Hawaii to cool off?
