"It's the guy on the burn-in CD!" exclaimed my future wife, 30 years ago. At the time, she was finishing her junior year at UC Berkeley.
Via the Sheffield/XLO CD, she had previously heard Michael Ruff's "Poor Boy." But I already possessed Ruff's Speaking In Melodies, which (a) pre-dated the Sheffield/XLO CD, and (b) had already included "Poor Boy." This time, "I Will Find You There" was playing, and my future wife recognized Ruff. Then and now, my wife wishes that all pop music recordings were as focused, detailed, and uncompressed as Ruff's Speaking In Melodies.
