One of the most creative, relentless and productive musicians of our times,
Zorn turned 70 this month, still has little use for musical categories or genres
and keeps on keeping on. He's truly enriched the shape and scope of music
in our time.
Beside staying so actively creative he's worked with a wider cadre of musicians
than most anyone I can think of and has earned the respect of them all.
On a personal note, he used to shop at a record store in Oakland I managed and
he was always nice, engaging, witty and... welcome. A swell guy.
Be interesting to see how streaming his catalog works for him and (new?) listeners.
Alays did appreciate the "pagaging" of the CDs on his labe, but that likely won't change.
Something tells me he's not done with physical media.
