Miss Flack must have the highest Batting Average in Popular Music History. So to speak.
By which I mean, her discography is rather small, but her success rate at getting Billboard No. 1s and Grammy nominations and awards is astonishingly high.
Flack's album "Killing Me Softly" was nominated for a 1974 Grammy, and the Billboard No. 1 title song won in the categories of Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female. Not chopped liver. BTW, she also won Record of the Year in 1973 for the Billboard No. 1 "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." Also in 1973, Best Duo Performance, with Donny Hathaway. So, three Grammys in two years.
Sad to report, she developed a progressive illness (ALS) and had to retire in 2022.
