In the summer of 1992, many of my friends, back from their respective colleges, were home in San Francisco. We slept over at each other's homes. It was not MTV or VH1. Some other cable TV channel aired the video for Mary Chapin Carpenter's "I Feel Lucky." But we did not hear it, on any of San Francisco's radio stations. Perhaps KSAN played it, but we missed it.

Most of us thought of Lake Tahoe and the Sierras for their winter snow. However, my friends who were going to UC Davis went up to Reno/Tahoe all year-round. As soon as we got out of the Bay Area, Central Valley radio stations were either Spanish language or country music. And the latter did play MCC's "I Feel Lucky," which was a hit.

It's now 30 years later, but while standing in line for boba, my family overheard MCC's "I Feel Lucky."
