Not saying it was *great* music, but to have live stuff on three networks takes one back to... well, the days before videotape (although there were kinescopes).CBS had the Country Music Awards (Forget it! But there it was...)
Fox had American Idol (Ditto)
ABC had Dancing with the Stars (which turns out to be rather interesting, as I know very little about dance styles, and whaddya know? Enrique Iglesias sings pretty good!)
That confluence may never happen again.
"Live" is a thrill. Things happen, mostly for the better. Mostly one has only Prairie Home Companion for that. And a story: Last week Wilco was on, and they were good too, better than the two albums I've heard, but lead singer Tweedy, a very charming fellow -- I understand he's put the drugs away -- entered a verse early. He stifled it, but there it was. At the end, over the applause, he shouted good-humoredly, "I demand a do-over!"
