It's all about the music, dude! Sit down, relax and listen to some tunes.

Re: Classical Vinyl Haul: pls. critique!

Mathis der Maler - Toch Symphony No. 3 by William Steinsberg (Capitol)

Great recordings. The Toch has never been surpassed. Is this a mono or stereo Lp? I've seen several copies about, but I haven't seen any stereo ones (these were recorded in stereo). This was on CD in the EMI Matrix series but is long OOP.

Bruckner - Symphony No. 7. E Major by Hans Rosbaud (Vox)

Highly esteemed among Brucknerians and a personal favorite. Vox gets the symphony on one Lp, so it must be pretty groove crammed, but I remember it still being quite enjoyable. This has had several incarnations on CD.

Haydn - Symphonies No. 86 in D Major, o. 92 in G Major by Franco Caracciolo (Angel)

Interesting, never heard of this conductor.

Brahms - Symphony No. 1 in C minor,op. 68 by Arthur Rodzinski (Columbia)

I'd love to hear a clean copy of this. Rodzinski was a great conductor. It's from an era when pickups tended to grind up the vinyl. I've never found any clean Columbia's from this period in my thrift store shopping.

Karl-Birger Blomdahl: Chamber Concerto by Carlos Surinach (MGM)

Sounds really interesting. Blomdahl was a modernist Swedish composer. He sounds a bit Hindemithian to my ears.

Hindemith / Malipiero - Stuveysant String Quartet (Nonesuch)

The Hindemith quartets have been shamefully neglected.
