on "All Things Considered" today, along with an interview of Wang. Just the thirty seconds or so amazed me with her energy and mature interpretation. No gimmickry to my ears. Appropriate tradition coupled with a verve that kept it far from being ordinary, or heaven forbid, an old warhorse. She noted that she had always avoided the concerto because every pianist did it, but then confessed understanding why after having mastered it. Her work was impressive enough that I would get a recording of it in a heartbeat, were one available.
