Epic sound is quite decent. As for the Moldau, that is a classic performance, which we own on the old Epic blue label. It is a bit tight and controlled, but classic Szell and his chamber orchestra of 100.The Gold Label Epics are supposedly better. I have found that to be the case in some but was recently disappointed in a copy of his Dvorak 9th (sound wise). I picked up a cheap copy of 3 great symphonies, reissued with the Dvorak, Schubert 8th and Beethoven 5th, a CBS and the sound seems much better.
To hear these best, it may be true to try the new DSD CD's or SACD only reissues.
