If I could hum a few bars of what I'm looking for in here, I would.. so text will have to do ;o)Anyone with the Arthaus DVD of Gardiner's Bach Christmas Oratorio: On the 2nd DVD, there's a little documentary called "In the footsteps of Bach."
The opening of this documentary has a choral work of some sort, to me it sounds like Bach.. arpeggio'd strings in a fairly dark mood, then comes in a male chorus (baritones / bass?), I think they're saying "Almas.." or something like that.
Would that happen to be from one of the Passions? The credits don't say what it was, and I'd never heard it before. =o/
Also.. the last piece of the Christmas Oratorio, the sung part of that last piece -- is that derived from "Von Himmel Hoch?" Maybe even from "Jesu bleibet mein Freude?" It's driving me mad, I know I've heard it before... o.O
