Dark side, that is. Didn't get in too deep compared to a lot of cats, but if I had it probably would have killed me. As dumb luck would have it, I married well, and that's probably the only reason I'm still kicking it and quite content to boot.The bassist isn't Helias. This guy is from Iowa, I believe, and can play pretty much any jazz style really well as is evidenced by his impressive discography as a sideman. He has been involved in the freer side of things since at least the 80's when he was in a co-op band that included Paul Smoker and Ellery Eskelin. The drummer has a similarly wide range, and this is the furthest-out thing I've ever heard him on by far. I was amazed at how good his free thing is. The pianist if a younger guy from Detroit/Ann Arbor and has appeared on several albums by your favorite saxophonist ;-). I don't know much about the background of the horn players.
