The thread below about Mapleshade got me thinking about very talented but under documented artists. Among living artists in any genre who deserves more recordings, hopefully quality recordings? My list:
Jazz: Billy Harper, Stanley Cowell, Dave Burrell, Gary Bartz, Leroy Jenkins and assuming they are still playing well, Sam Rivers (it would be nice to hear his large ensemble pieces at full length), Prince Lasha, and Von Freeman.
Rock & Folk: Jorma Kaukonen with Jack Cassidy, Geoff Muldaur with Amos Garrett and a long list of once talented rock musicians who are still living but have released little or nothing in the past five or six years if not longer e.g. Peter Perrett.
I'm not conversant enough with the classical world to know who has been overlooked.
