...and I'm reminded of the richness and complexity of the musical thought in this piece, while it also has a very direct and affecting quality. This time I found the orchestra not as well balanced with the solo instruments as I'd like. Could be the nearfield listening setup I'm using these days that doesn't let the presentation expand as it should; I'll try it further back in the room, too. I'm going to listen to my other LP recording (Ulf Hoelscher with Koln Radio Orch conducted by Hiroshi Wakasugi on German Harmonia Mundi) to see how it compares. I'll let you know if I think it's a worthy reading.
