subscribe to Jazziz magazine. many of my discoveries in new jazz have come from listening to their accompanying cd and it send me to the store a lot of times.jazziz seems much maligned around here but they must remain with a broad base to stay in biz and you really ought to take at least a cursory look. they recently printed an excerpt of a book on peggy lee that was just captivating.
