Geez, it's late....I should be in bed! Thanks to internet radio and stationripper.com, I've been discovering Current 93 and Death in June, among a zillion other artists. Always was intrigued by these groups. C93 - got a killer LP of some simple piano, guitar, vocal "apocolyptic folk" music. LP is unamed, but has tunes like All The Pretty Little Horses (damn good song). 'The Great In The Small' is a sucky album of wierdness - a collage of ALL their music. Experimental crap. Due to internet radio, I found a killer tune called Oh Coal Black Smith, another simple folk like tune of vocal and guitar. Thanks to ebay, an anticiapted quality sounding vinyl edition is enroute. Now I'm obsessed with getting other similar music, hopefully form C93! Ditto for Death In June for their cut She Said Destroy. So who knows anything about these two groups and what might be next for me?
LPD - The Legendary Pinks Dots. My favorite and I'm a rather hardcore collector. And man oh man do they have some stuff to collect! 40+ CD's and counting from this one group. Many are releases of rough versions of songs, unreleased material, comps. No, it's not all great. There's much I don't care for (the experiemental wierd, non-melodic stuff) but I will at least check everything out. Same for front man Edward Ka-spel's solo efforts and other related projects like Mimir, The Tear Garden, C93.... I better stop, other than to say for the best and maybe most assessible Dots......'The Golden Age'. For something early on......'Curse' followed by 'Brighter Now'.
