I have a friend and his family who moved to Nixa MO several years ago when he retired from the Air Force. I believe Nixa is "out in the country" South of Springfied. They just sold their older home and moved to a huge newer place in Republic MO (SW of Springfield) that was $315K. A comparable home here would be about $950K to $1.1M. Crazy. They like it out there, except for the frequent storms and tornado warnings. You certainly get a lot more for your money out there.
