Try both at the same time nd fiddle with the volume until you can't tell if the sounfd is coming through the headphones or the speakers. Works really well with K-701s and detailed speakers like LS3/5A types. Probably also works with HD-650s and warmer speakers. I haven't tried.I have a very good head amp made by Single Power.
