If this is the last transport you'll likely ever own I would maximize as much remaining time in total use of the original and replacement laser.
You might not get 20 years out of the replacement. Might only get 10 years.
And as others have mentioned it's not recommended to tinker with the original if it is working flawlessly. Take advantage of it.
