I suggest you look into the Smsl VMV D2r. It utilizes a Rohm BD34301EKV dac chip and a Noratel linear power supply. Rohm claims that the reproduction of classical music was one of their design claims. I have owned this dac since December and so far I have found it to excel in the reproduction of acoustic instruments and vocals. It has several different settings, which I am still experimenting with. Only negatives I have found so far is that the owner's manual is poorly written and when I tried it as a preamp, I got some clicking sounds in my system when using the usb input. The VMV D2r sells for $850-$1000. Most recently I have only tried several dacs in the $500 or less category. The VMV D2r sounds noticeably better than any of them.
As an aside, I agree with Abe Collins' comment below that dacs are voiced a certain way. The VMV D2r has a specific voice, but it is a voice that gels with the rest of my gear and sounds good.
