RE: Substituting the dac chip in the Border Patrol Dac

Right now its the Questyle M12I. I have been A/B them and the Questyle running DoP 128 sounds better in some regards to the BP mostly things like images. The Questyle is more defined and has a better the stage. The BP has a meatier presentation that some would like but for me its just blurrier. The BP though has better bass and drive.

Its pretty amazing that a $69 dongle running DoP can even compete let alone beat in some categories a $1800 dac. So I would like to see if I can get the best of both.

Also have the Antelope ZEO and if I can get to work it might be even better.

Never had the dacs you speak of. Both dacs are going into the Black Ice Stereo Expander then feeding a Hafler Tube hybrid headphone amp if that helps.
