Yes, and we could have nuclear war. Having instant access to literally millions of albums is a beautiful thing.
If stored on a music server, a power surge or other event could wipe out your whole library.
Ever heard of data backups? Since I maintain multiple copies of important videos, music, pictures and financial data, I've lost nothing in thirty years of owning computers.
Plus, you completely eliminate the ritual of physically pulling the disc off the rack, inserting it (or the LP and dropping the needle), and then hitting "play."
Yes! You spend more time listening that shuffling disks to and fro boxes and sleeves. Feed multiple systems from common library. Using random play, rediscover old friends you've forgotten about. Create playlists on the fly.
Listening to music is more important to me than engaging rituals. I cannot imagine returning to the bad old days.
