RE: DAC w/remote volume control installed between...

I have a Camelot Uther Mk3 dac that has an *analog* remote volume control with 0-100 discrete steps plus a "full" setting that bypasses the analog section and runs the volume at full output. The analog section is completely transparent, at least to my ears.

It's really useful for precisely matching the dac output volume with my YBA preamp, especially with bombastic source material.of course the dac can function as a full remote control preamp but I prefer the sweetness and gain that I hear through the YBA.

Note that the majority of dacs with remote volume out - especially the less expensive ones - control the volume in the digital domain and thus lose resolution at lower settings.
