Ancient Rotels: rcd-965bx and rcd-855, Linn DAC (sorry about that: Mimmik or Karrik) gave an astonishing realistic tonallity, New cheep ones like the NAD 521, CA 640 V1/2, Arcam cd73 f.i are more detailed and quiet, but IMO don't come close the sheer musicality/realism of the earlier mentioned - Digital sucks, Resolution or tone, Can't have both.
