Re: EAD DSP-7000

I still have mine, I had the EAD 9000 III with volume control (preamp) the diferences between the 7000 and the 9000 are small I would not go into percentage because it is manily flavor, the 9000 is a bit more refined, I like the little rawness of the 7000 over the 9000, wish I still had both I sold the 9000 and am using a pasive resitor loaded attenuator directly into my amps, this way I like it better than the 9000.
They are famous for their "digital flywheel" I believe its kind of a good clock, they have the PCM63 dac chip (one of the best) 20 bit dacs oversampling switchable 4X or 8X (not upsampling), before I bought it I compared it to most of the DACs available then, Krell studio.. Audio Note cant remember which, Counterpoint etc. This was way better than all the others by far...I had it for so long I cant really say how good it is compared to newer ones but I still see no urgency to change it, I used a lot of diferent transports and the old EAD still grows in every aspect when a change in the sytem is done...
Outputs 2Volts at 50 ohm, pretty good for a passive preamp.
Musical, Detailed as your transport will allow...according to a stereophile review it is still reference when matched to a Forsell transport....very nice.
