I'm not very technical minded and kind of confused about playing hi-rez dvd's (like the recent Neil Young stuff). I have an Oppo 970 running through NAD C320BEE integrated amp.
It's my understanding that the dvd player should be set to "96K" for the hi-rez
dvd discs; in the set-up instructions for the Oppo it says "ensure that the receiver/amp can support it" (meaning the higher rez than standard 48K).
The instruction manual for the NAD integrated mentions nothing at all about any 96K selectability or anything at all about sampling frequencies. So, am I getting the 96K rez or not? Honestly, when I switch back and forth between 96 and 48 on the Oppo player, I don't think I hear a difference (or not much anyway).
Can anyone help me understand this better? Would I have to "upgrade" to a different style of amp to get the full hi-rez benefit? I didn't realize that the amplifier had anything to do with that.
Thanks for all replies.
