I can't say anything about sound quality, but a DAC2 recently came across my bench with a Superclock mod done by a well known shop. It was an extremely poor mod job. Caps laying everywhere. Wires bent so tight they popped the board traces. It was a mess.
The unit also had an intermittent problem, and when sent back for repair, the owner was told there was nothing wrong. It finally failed and is back at Bel Canto for repair.
All I can say is be careful who does the work.
