It sounds like the ribbon connector between the transport and the circuit board is loose. There are little tabs on each side of the connectors that the ribbon slips into. If you pull those up it will release the ribbon. Wipe the ribbon and put it back into the connector making sure it is bottomed and push the little tabs on each side down to lock in the ribbon. Preferably both at the same time. Not so easy on the transport but that is most of the problem with those.
