Have a Sony 777ES CD player but it seems a tad hot

with my system. Don't know much about external DAC's. Would anyone recommend the addition of a DAC or just buy a new or modern CD deck. There are always some on Agon and ebay but it is just so unknown to me.
System is the aforementioned CD, Audio Research SP 8, AR Classic 60 and some old but nice Beveridge 3's.
