As I understand it, it has to do with the laser servos not tracking certain discs (off center,etc) properly.I had several of these in a radio station back when they came out, and they were forever in the shop; same issues. They wouldn't track all discs, wouldn't read TOC, door wouldn't stay closed. No matter how we adjusted them (back then, you could adjust all parameters of the unit; focus, intensity, tracking, etc), we couldn't get them to function with all discs.
We finally replaced them with the 1300 series, and all of the problems went away.
