Modified Jolida JD100 sound

I recently changed preamps and CD players. I sold my Cambridge CD640 V2 and replaced it with a Jolida Level 1 mod. (I also replaced my C-J 17LS with a modified ARC SP9.)
The Cambridge/C-J provided a warm, yet very realistic sound. Probably the best CD sound I've ever had in my system. With the Jolida/ARC, the sound is not as good. A little too bright and fatiguing to listen to. I went with a Jolida because I had heard they were warm and more like analog and tube equipment. This is certainly not the case with my current set up. I have also heard that the modified units are brighter than stock units. I would appreciate any feedback comparing modified and stock Jolida sound as well as comparisons to the Cambridge Audio. Does the Cambridge Audio sound smoother and more detailed than Jolida's?
