Re: Njoe Tjoeb to Rega Apollo

I must start by saying that I do not have direct experience with the Tjoeb but, like you, the Njoe and the Apollo were the two "finalists" in my search. I ended-up buying the Apollo (and I am very happy with it) for the following reasons:

1) I could not find a Njoe to audition and I trust my ears and know my preferences better than other people's. I could listen to the Rega in person and I was very impressed with it.

2) The Tjoeb might have been THE bargain CDP when it came out several years ago, but it's getting a bit long in the tooth.

3) I already have a tube amp, so I did not really need the additional "warmth" of tube from the CDP.

4) Support and warranty. Being able to walk back to the dealer in-person with any issues is a plus to me.

5) Looks. I much prefer the look of the Apollo.

I continue to be VERY impressed by the Apollo. I don't think you can go wrong with it. It has received very positive reviews by press and end-users alike. And don't worry about the "quirks" that were mentioned a few months ago. As long as you let initialization complete you will not have any problems.

Hope this helps.

Alberto
