Re: Bart: Peter Daniels DAC kit

I've had my Peter Daniel premium gold Nos-OS Dac for almost a year now. It does take the black gate a while to break in . The only mod I've to the basic design is I eliminated the 4.7ufd blackgate output caps and installed mundorf supreme silver in oil @ 2.2ufd . The sound of this Dac with a good ( I don't own great ) transport is to die for . The kit took me 3 hours to build , and 3 weeks to burn in . I have heard in great detail every downstream mod and upgrade that I have made , so I probably have not reached the limit of what it is capable of . I hear alot of music and very little noise artifacts , which tells me it's the right path (it sounds alot like real music). The kit is mostly easy , with the hardest part , soldering a smd regulator chip to the board and some BG filter caps to the pins of chips . The signal path is super short ,which is a good thing .

OK , the downside , You get a schematic and some picture from Peter to build this thing , a board and the parts . No step-by-step instructions . But he is providing a DAC he sells for around $1100 assembled for under $300 and the sound is superb . Read the 6moons review of the assembled dac , they reviewed it very highly .

The choices are never easy Bart ;~))
