Arcam Alpha 8 CDP...mods?

The upgrade bug has bitten!
Anyone know of mods to an Arcam Alpha 8 CDP?
AND/OR....should I replace my Audio Innovations tubed linestage with a Placette "Remote Volume Control" ( stepped attenuator using Vishay resistors)?
Modest budget, used is great.
System is modest...Alpha 8 CDP, AI tubed linestage, AI tubed monoblocs, driving the (wonderful) Jamo Concert 8's, augmented with a Sunfire True sub.....Kimber Silver Streak interconnects.
Room is small, app. 12 X 14...listen to blues, jazz, some pop....soundstage and imaging, along with PRAT are important to me.
