With So Many Choices...

...you're going to have fun checking out all the options. You already know what your sonic priorities are, and that's a huge start. Then you have to ask yourself the non-sonic questions.

Do you have a color preference? Some models are only available in, say, black. Are you able to accomodate a large, space-consuming model? Do you care if the player omits time information? Does it bother you if the machine takes 19 seconds to get ready to play a disc? Do you have a need for balanced outputs? Does it bother you that the remote is heavy, has stiff buttons, and omits certain useful commands? Will the player's heat or noise bother you? Do you care if the player is a top-loader, as opposed to having a drawer?

Once you answer these questions for yourself, you should have no trouble eliminating models which do not satisfy your needs. Let me put it to you this way. A budget of US$6k is high. For that kind of money, there should be NO faults, compromises, and quirks.
