I'm using a Sony DVD/CD/SACD player that is starting to get a few years on it. Actually, it's seen off a few contenders in my system over the years, remaining the one componet I've had longer than any other. Well, I'm thinking things have improved on the digital front lately and I'm wondering if now might be the time to move on. My amps are the NAD C162 / C272 combination driving Spendor S5e loudspeakers. I listen to a lot of vinyl but still have thousands of cds, so, my question, what's the best digital rig that can be had for, say, under a grand, new or used? I like tone and detail, pretty much in that order. Any hot numbers out there under a grand?
