Sometimes (often?) the unit is a warranty replacement for one that had a problem. Rather than risking another problem (us audiophiles are a finicky lot) the owner will have decided, even before the replacement is shipped to him, that it will go on the block.Not casting aspersions here, but the Rega has been known to be sent back for a problem experienced by some owners.
Of course, the new unit may or may not have the same problem. And this may or may not be the history of that unit. And I amy or may not know what I am talking about. (I have been talking to a lawyer today).
