Let's see if I can help. The Standard I have is a Mk II, though I had both a first generation and 'refurbished' (new transport a la Philips 1000) Mk I. They all sound great. The Mk II at a substantial discount is obviously the way to go. The latest is reliable as well. Krell made a great piece here, building (like EMM) on the Philips, but it looks like they ended up tossing everything out and making it their own...real Krell quality and service.
