in that you found it to be a bit bright. I thought it was fairly well balanced throughout and did a nice job of taming that digital harshness that can sometimes be present. And I use a powered subwoofer with remote volume control so I can fine tune the low end.I do agree that the overall sound can seem somewhat distant, with a sound stage that comes from slightly behind the speakers. However, I think that's due to listening to typical cd playback which can be quite forward and forceful. To me that's what makes the Apollo superior to many cd players, it's more transparent if you will, letting the music come through with less emphasis on any one aspect of the sound. Maybe why it sounds more "vinyl-like".
