Re: X-Post - Audio Aero Prestige over Capitole

Sorry to have to disagree with the post below but the Prestige is vastly superior to the Capitole on Redbook CD having owned a Capitole MKII for almost 4 years and now the Prestige for 4 months I can honestly say the soundstage is far greater in all dimensions. The bass is tighter, lower and more rythmic. Treble to my ears is probably the same however the overall sound is less 'creamy' more accurate and if I went back to the Capitole would probably find it too lush.

Regards the transport, yes it is a pile of c*****p and is noisy when reading TOC but in my system is silent from the listening chair. If AA are looking for a new transport then expect that to arrive in the 'future'. It has taken i think 4 years for the Prestige to arrive and the outboard power supply is still not available as far as I'm aware.

If I may suggest that you get to listen to a Prestige against the Capitole and decide which is for you. As regards SACD, I have maybe 15 and honestly don't worry what I play in the Prestige and have no real preference. Jerome (AA) once told me he prefers Redbook. Again a poor Sacd is worse than a good Redbook so don't fret on that one.

PLUS, you get a great preamp too! just like the Capitole. What a bargain.!

If you asked me would I go back to a Capitole, then no I wouldn't even with the lousy transport and no SACD.

Hope I've been some help to you. I
