Just to clarify - I did not call the Marantz "constipated". That was conveyed to me by Doug at RAM - and he said a known reviewer made that remark towards a unit that he sent to RAM for modding. I will say that RAM's "lift the veils" billing is a pretty accurate description of what they accomplish. For one thing, the sonic differences between the selectable filters are much more distinct from each other after the mods were performed. Not to hijack this thread - this isn't a discussion on mods after all, but a fully modded Marantz is within (or just under) the price range specified by the originator of this thread.
