Re: Recommendations for Best current portable CD players!

If you can find one, an Aiwa XP-501R. It is recently discontinued, but some were being sold on ebay. There is a Sony model that is supposedly the sonic equivalent of the Aiwa, but I can't remember the model#. Suggest you search the portable audio forum at headfi.org for more choices.
I use the Aiwa without an amp and Grado SR-80's and it sounds very good, much better than my old Radio Shack CD-3400 and much better than my daughter's ipod.
I also use the Aiwa with an amp (nothing exotic, just a cmoy or mint) and it can sound great with Grado RS-2's.
