Start by using a lens cleaner on your Planet. If that fails, try using sewing machine oil (or such like) on the rails of the Planet's transport mechanism. Worth a go as it often isn't the laser in need of attention.If you simply want a stop-gap in the meantime, grab yourself an old Denon or Sony ES player off ebay.
I have a Sony CDP-X111ES catching dust (but working well) going for $90.00 including shipping in you're interested.
